Guests of Honour

Our Guests of Honour are translator Kersti Juva, professor Raine Koskimaa, critic Cheryl Morgan and author Charles Stross.

Kersti Juva is an award-winning translator renowned especially for translating a number of works by J.R.R. Tolkien into Finnish. In addition to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Silmarillion, The Hobbit and others, she has translated classics of English literature such as Tristram Shandy by Laurence Sterne, Winnie the Pooh novels by A. A. Milne and Watership Down by Richard Adams.

Raine Koskimaa is the professor of Contemporary Culture Studies in the University of Jyväskylä. He researches digital literature, video games and related topics.

Cheryl Morgan is a Welsh science fiction critic, publisher and a regular visitor of cons around the world, especially in Finland. Emerald City, a magazine edited by Morgan, won the prestigious Hugo Award in 2004, and she has since been also awarded a personal Hugo for Best Fan Writer.

Charles Stross is a British author known for science fiction space opera as well as Lovecraftian horror. His longest-running book series include The Laundry Files and The Merchant Princes, and Stross has also won several awards for his short fiction — some of which you can freely read online.
